Our vision

Stop Hunger is a Sodexo initiative active in over 40 countries around the world and was created in 1996 by US Sodexo colleagues who witnessed children going to school hungry.

What is Stop Hunger’s mission and what does it do?

In the UK & Ireland, Stop Hunger works with national and local charities to donate time, skills and money to tackle food insecurity and its root causes as well as help empower women who represent the biggest opportunity in eliminating hunger.
Thanks to the financial support of Sodexo, 100% of the donations made to the Stop Hunger Foundation go directly to financing activities and sustainable solutions for disadvantaged communities to exit food insecurity.
Volunteering and fundraising form part of Sodexo's regional Social Value strategy, which is the UK and Ireland’s ethical manifesto for leading the way to improve quality of life for society and our planet. By 2025, Sodexo will enable 20% of its workforce to access volunteering and fundraising opportunities.

The Foundation's work also contributes to the Sodexo global corporate responsibility programme, Better Tomorrow 2025, as well as Sodexo Group and UK&I regional roadmaps.
Stop Hunger’s strategy aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals designed by the United Nations (UN) to make the world a fairer and more equal place.
To achieve Stop Hunger’s mission of tackling food insecurity and its root causes, the Foundation commits to split equally its support between supporting charitable work providing immediate and emergency support (food aid activities) and addressing the root causes such as poverty, education, homelessness, etc.

What is Stop Hunger’s Impact?

Every penny donated and every hour volunteered counts. For example, with £10 Stop Hunger charity partner FareShare is able to deliver food for 40 meals!

Since 2010, the Stop Hunger Foundation has been able to donate just under £4 million to charities tackling food insecurity in the UK and Ireland.
Through the actions of Sodexo’s employees and their support, in the UK and Ireland Stop Hunger has supported charity partners like The Trussell Trust, FareShare, SSAFA, Made In Hackney, CoFarm, Chapter One and The Bread and Butter Thing to name but a few. Together we are making a real difference to local communities where Sodexo employees live and work.
Food insecurity is a huge issue globally; 820 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy, active life - that’s about one in nine people on earth. However, it is also an issue here in the UK and Ireland, with 10% of children estimated to be living in households facing severe food insecurity. This is why we need your support more than ever.
