Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation makes donation to the Marylebone Project

  • StopHunger

Through your fundraising efforts, the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation has been able to donate £4,000 to the Marylebone Project supporting homeless women.

A joint venture between the Church Army and the Portman House trust, the Marylebone Project is the largest women’s hostel in the UK, offering over 100 beds for women who have escaped unimaginable hardship.

Those the Marylebone Project support are often affected by substance misuse, unemployment, domestic violence and mental health issues. The project provides homeless women with education, training opportunities and meaningful activities in a welcoming and secure environment, with the sole outcome being to help them gain self-esteem, employment and independent living. The Marylebone Project is supported by patron Ellie Goulding.

Through their partnership with FareShare (Stop Hunger’s biggest charity partner), the Marylebone Project’s choir were approached to perform at the annual Sodexo Foundation Dinner in February 2019. The event was their first public performance, and was a culmination of months of hard work, weeks of socialising, and hours of confidence building and bonding.

Through your support and pledges made to the Foundation, Stop Hunger were able to donate to the Church Army £4,000 to help support the Marylebone Project’s work.

A BIG thank you for the donation to the Marylebone Project! This went towards our Day Centre which offers basic services and facilities to rough sleeps as well as supporting women back into work through our Women into Work initiative - Susan Way, Homeless Project Manager, Church Army
